Andy Reay of AdaptNI Highly Commended at Minority Recognition Awards NI

Laura

AdaptNI is proud to announce that Andy Reay was highly commended in the Inspiring Champion category at the prestigious Minority Recognition Awards NI. Although Andy did not win the award, his recognition highlights the exceptional impact of his work in promoting inclusivity and accessibility for people who are deaf, have hearing loss, and/or tinnitus across Northern Ireland.

This commendation comes at a particularly significant time, coinciding with the recent International Week of Deaf People and the International Day of Sign Languages, which began on 23rd September. Andy’s recognition reflects his tireless commitment to ensuring access for individuals who use British Sign Language (BSL), Irish Sign Language (ISL), and other sign languages. Through his efforts at AdaptNI, Andy has played a key role in fostering awareness and creating truly inclusive workplaces.

The Minority Recognition Awards NI celebrates individuals and organisations that have made remarkable strides in advancing diversity and inclusion in Northern Ireland. Andy’s commendation in the Inspiring Champion category underscores his passionate advocacy for equal opportunities and his relentless work to ensure that people from minority groups have the support and resources they need to thrive professionally.

The AdaptNI team and Advisory Board are incredibly proud of Andy’s achievement. His dedication to promoting accessibility and championing inclusivity has not only inspired his colleagues but has also made a tangible difference in the lives of those he supports.

Andy Reay shared his thoughts on being highly commended:"It’s an honour to be recognised at the Minority Recognition Awards, especially during such an important time for the Deaf community. This commendation reflects the collective work we do at AdaptNI to ensure that everyone, regardless of their communication needs or background, has the opportunity to succeed. I’m grateful for the recognition and proud to continue advocating for a more inclusive future. It was also fantastic to see two BSL interpreters on the stage for the Awards!!"

AdaptNI congratulates Andy on this well-deserved commendation and looks forward to continuing its mission to support diversity, accessibility, and inclusion across Northern Ireland.
